This nagamaki has a very unique structure. It’s a mix between katana and naginata swords, but the Unokubi-Zukuri blade shape is one of a kind. A traditional Japanese sword, this style has an extra long handle, and was used by the samurai class of feudal Japan. Our nagamaki for sale are entirely handmade by master craftsmen who have studied traditional Japanese and Chinese sword making techniques. Browse our selection of battle-ready nagamaki to discover a full tang blade that is equally ready to be used for practical purposes or a display piece in your home.
The Creation Process
When creating a nagamaki sword, a swordsmith repeatedly heat treats the blade to remove all impurities and ensure the metal is strong and flexible. Each blade is then hand sharpened and engraved to your specifications.
Our nagamaki for sale arrive with a black lacquered hardwood saya, rayskin wrap, buffalo horn koiguchi, silk sageo/ito, genuine same' (rayskin), and premium iron fittings. The tang is secured with two bamboo mekugi and features a hand engraved mei (signature). It is a very good choice for dojo and iaido use, gifts, cutting practice, and display. Our battle-ready nagamaki are sharp enough to slice through all kinds of materials from bamboo to bone without damaging the blade.
